Magnetic-Field-Driven Superconductor-Insulator-Type Transition in Graphite

چکیده

A magnetic-field-driven transition from metallicto semiconducting-type behavior in the basal-plane resistance takes place in highly oriented pyrolytic graphite at a field Hc ∼ 1 kOe applied along the hexagonal c-axis. The analysis of the data reveals a striking similarity between this transition and that measured in thinfilm superconductors and Si MOSFET’s. However, in contrast to those materials, the transition in graphite is observable at almost two orders of magnitude higher temperatures.

Numerical analysis of the magnetic-field-tuned superconductor-insulator transition in two dimensions

Ground state of the two-dimensional hard-core-boson model subjected to external magnetic field and quenched random chemical potential is studied numerically. In experiments, magneticfield-tuned superconductor-insulator transition has already come under through investigation, whereas in computer simulation, only randomness-driven localization (with zero magnetic field) has been studied so far: T...

Localized superconductivity in the quantum-critical region of the disorder-driven superconductor-insulator transition in TiN thin films.

We investigate low-temperature transport properties of thin TiN superconducting films in the vicinity of the disorder-driven superconductor-insulator transition. In a zero magnetic field, we find an extremely sharp separation between superconducting and insulating phases, evidencing a direct superconductor-insulator transition without an intermediate metallic phase. At moderate temperatures, in...

THERMALLY INDUCED TRANSITION IN THE VORTEX LATTICE OF Ge / Pb MULTILAYEi

We report on a novel magnetic field dependence of the critical current density of M.B.E. grown Ge/Pb insulator/superconductor multilayers. When the magnetic field is applied perpendicular to the layers, the critical current density Jc drops to a minimum, followed by a broad maximum before finally decaying monotonously to zero with increasing magnetic field. The dependence of this effect on pinn...

Hall effect at the magnetic-field-tuned superconductor-insulator transition

The Hall effect for disordered superconducting films in magnetic field is discussed, with special focus on the vicinity of the magnetic field-tuned superconductor-insulator transition. Evidence is presented that upon ensemble averaging this transition possesses a "hidden" particle/hole symmetry. This symmetry implies that right at the transition the Hall resistance vanishes. Relevance to recent...

Quantum Monte Carlo study of a magnetic-field-driven two-dimensional superconductor-insulator transition

We numerically study the superconductor-insulator phase transition in a model disordered two-dimensional 2D superconductor as a function of applied magnetic field. The calculation involves quantum Monte Carlo calculations of the 2+1 D XY model in the presence of both disorder and magnetic field. The XY coupling is assumed to have the form −J cos i− j −Aij , where Aij has a mean of zero and a st...
